When to use this tool

Use inpainting to change a material, clothing, decoration or part of the background. Unlike erasing, it benefits from describing what should replace the selected region. Use the eraser for simple removal and background repair.

Prepare and locate the action

Select the source image on your project canvas and find Local repaint. If it is not visible, check More Tools and whether the asset type supports it. Keep the original and make sure you have permission to edit and use the source.

Step-by-step workflow

Open Local Repaint, mask the target area and describe the change. State which subject, lighting or style should be preserved. Avoid requesting broad changes unrelated to the mask. Inspect both the edited region and its boundary after generation.

Example workflow

To change a jacket to dark blue wool, mask the jacket and request “Keep the original cut, pose and lighting.” Avoid including the face and background in the same mask.

Settings and costs

Use the options and estimated cost shown in the current tool interface. Check the result and actual records after processing. Source dimensions, model and output can affect cost; this guide does not promise a fixed price.

Troubleshooting and quality checks

If the output drifts, request one specific change at a time and refine the mask. The mask guides generation, but nearby content can still change; recheck important details.
